Custodial Services LIGHT CUSTODIAN LG2 851

  1. Cleans and dusts areas such as suites, offices, classrooms, kitchens, living spaces, dormitory rooms, laboratories, lobbies, museums, locker rooms, stairways, corridors and elevators.
  2. Makes beds as required.
  3. Dust mops and wet mops floors.
  4. Cleans and polishes furniture and cleans inside windows on floor level.
  5. Cleans and maintains restrooms and bathrooms.
  6. Cleans glass, chalkboards, display cases, interior partitions and light fixtures which are reachable from the floor.
  7. Refills toilet paper, paper towel, sanitary napkin and soap dispensers.
  8. Cleans and polishes hardware such as doors, woodwork, door handles, push plates, kick plates, metal handrails, cigarette urns and drinking fountains.
  9. Vacuums and spot cleans rugs.
  10. Removes and cleans floor mats and entrance rug runners.
  11. Close, open locks and unlocks windows and doors.
  12. Replaces burned out light bulbs or report same to supervisor.
  13. Maintains service rooms and storage areas in a clean orderly manner.
  14. Maintains adequate supply of cleaning equipment, materials and supplies.
  15. Uses cleaning tools such as mops, brooms, squeegees, cleaning cloths, sponges, pails, brushes, vacuum cleaners, etc.
  16. Turns in found articles in accordance with University policy.
  17. Removes waste paper baskets and containers, and empties same into trash containers and cleans area after trash has been picked up.
  18. Reports all repairs required and safety and fire hazards to supervisor.
  19. Observes safety standards and practices.
  20. Performs related duties as required or assigned within job classification.
Experience: One or more years in cleaning services or related type work.
Education: Ability to read, write and follow written instructions.

  15. Washes walls, doors and woodwork.
  16. Moves furniture and equipment as required.

  1. Directs lower labor grade employees assigned in the following manner:
    1. Directs the implementation of work schedules made out by the supervisor.
    2. Changes schedules in accordance with the supervisor's instructions to ensure best coverage for absenteeism or sickness.
    3. Changes schedules in emergencies to accomplish assigned tasks when supervisor is not available.
    4. Ensures that the proper supply of equipment and materials are on hand and being used in accordance with standard practices.

  1. Moves and/or relocates heavy furniture, items and/or equipment beyond intended scope of specific items listed in lower LG job descriptions such a GSA and Custodian.
  2. Not intended for inclusion in this classification: routine incidental moving of furniture, items or equipment of a non-prolonged nature, in order to accomplish cleaning assignments.
  3. Loads and unloads delivery vehicle as needed.
  4. Reports malfunctions in material-handling equipment to supervisor immediately.
  5. Reports the need for repairs as they become evident; reports safety and fire hazards to supervisor.
  6. Observes safe working habits and practices in the performance of physically demanding work.
Experience: None required.
Education: N/A
Other: Ability to perform physically demanding work including lifting and moving heavy furniture, items or equipment for prolonged periods.

Custodial Services FURNITURE/EQUIPMENT MOVER LG10 896

  1. Moves and/or relocates, disassembles, reassembles, packs and unpacks (as required) heavy furniture, items and/or equipment beyond intended scope of specific items listed in lower LG job description such as GSA and Custodian. Removes and reinstalls doors, shelves, casework, partitions, equipment, etc. necessary to accomplish move. Assembles and/or diassembles/reassembles workstations and disconnects/reconnects necessary electrical connections. Moves, disconnects and reconnects cables and/or lines associated with items such as computers, gas tanks or bottles, equipment, etc. Makes necessary adjustments as required or directed to equipment.
  2. Not intended for inclusion in this classification: routine incidental moving of furniture, items or equipment of a non-prolonged nature, in order to accomplish cleaning assignment done by custodians.
  3. Operates full-size truck.
  4. Loads and unloads delivery vehicle as needed.
  5. Delivers and picks up personnel, equipment and materials to and from designated areas as required within classification.
  6. Check vehicle fluid levels, safety devices, maintain daily logs and cleanliness of trucks.
  7. Delivers and picks up trucks for periodic scheduled servicing.
  8. Reports malfunctions in material-handling equipment to supervisor immediately.
  9. Reports the need for repairs as they become evident: reports safety and fire hazards to supervisor.
  10. Observes safe working habits and practices in the performance of physically demanding work.
  11. When required, performs all duties described in the custodian job description.
  12. Directs and trains lower labor grade employees.
Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work including lifting and moving heavy furniture, items or equipment for prolonged periods.
  • Valid Connecticut CDL Driver's License.
  • Ability to use measuring tape and operate power tools, hand tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read, write and follow written instructions.
  • Meet the Physical Fitness Guidelines outlined for Furniture/Equipment Mover.
  • Meets all requirements for the Custodian position.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow sketches and drawings.
