Alert Notice: New Document Requirements for Citizens of U.S., Canada, Mexico & Others

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Department of State have announced that effective January 23, 2007, citizens of the United States, Canada, Mexico and Bermuda will have to present a valid passport to enter or re-enter the U.S. when arriving by air from any part of the Western Hemisphere.

This document requirement falls under the Department of State's and Homeland Security’s Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI). Other acceptable documents to a passport for air travel into the U.S. are the Merchant Mariner Document (MMD issued by the U.S. Coast Guard to US Citizens) and the NEXUS Air Card, which will be available to Citizens and legal Permanent Residents of Canada and the U.S.
