Mail Tip: Stopping Junk Mail at Home
You can easily stop about 75% of the junk mail that comes to your home using the Mail Preference Service. They are able to effectively decrease the non-profit and commercial mail you currently receive by placing your name in a "do-not-mail" file. After registration, it takes approximately three months to see the decrease in junk mail.
Write to them requesting that your name, address and phone number be deleted from all mailing and marketing lists. Provide them with all spellings of your name, as well as with any other names at your address. Be sure to sign and date your letter. You can also register online at http://www.dmaconsumers.org/offmailinglist.html They will retain your information for five years.
