Travel Update: GetThere.com and Orbitz

Although Yale Travel Services has received positive feedback on Orbitz for Business (Orbitz), they continue to work closely with departments to tailor Orbitz to Yale’s needs, including distribution of travel-enabled PCards and an on-line travel approval process.

Given the success of the Orbitz program, the GetThere.com online booking tool will be phased out by July 31, 2006. If you have not already made the transition to Orbitz, the Travel Services staff will be happy to help you get accustomed to Orbitz’s on-line and agent-assisted travel services.

You may book travel online without incurring a service fee by using Orbitz for Business at http://www.orbitzforbusiness.com. Login using your yale.edu email address (for first- time users the password is ‘travel’). You must use a travel enabled PCard or a personal credit card to book travel with Orbitz.

With the successful implementation of Orbitz and the expansion of travel-enabled PCards, we plan to phase out the use of paper Travel Requisitions (TR) this summer. Yale Travel Services will continue to employ Orbitz and the travel-enabled PCards in place of the TR for purchasing travel. If you need to use a TR or have any questions regarding travel-enabled PCards, please contact Maggie McDonnell (432-9962).
