United Way Campaign Picks Up Steam
The six-week 2005-2006 Yale United Way Campaign is moving fast toward its conclusion on November 18. As of November 1, $410,088 has been pledged by 323 donors – 41% of the monetary goal of $1,000,000 from members of the Yale community. There is still enough time to meet and exceed this goal.
To this end, President Levin’s challenge of a $100,000 matching fund has been designed to encourage members of the Yale community to become first-time donors and to inspire those who already support United Way to increase their level of giving. Yale's matching gift will again be invested in United Way of Greater New Haven's Success By 6® (SB6) initiative, which works to ensure that all children in the greater New Haven community and the region, whatever their social or economic background, have the tools needed for academic and life-long success.
Nearly 100 champions from across the campus and from all groups of employees are helping lead this year’s campaign through special events, encouraging emails, posters and personal contacts. They are ready to find answers to any questions people may have about supporting the Greater New Haven Community through a contribution to United Way.
There will be a celebration for all donors from 1:00-3:00 in Commons on November 21. Departmental prizes and individual drawings will be given at this event.
