Attention: Merchants Accepting Yale Credit Cards

Is your swipe machine in compliance with FACT, the Federal Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act of 2003?

FACT prohibits any person who accepts credit and debit cards from printing more than 5 digits of the card number on the receipt given to the cardholder.

Please check your swipe machine the next time you print a receipt for a customer. If it prints just the last 4 digits of the card number, you are in compliance and no action is required.

If your swipe machine prints the entire card number on the customer receipt you must either:

• Trade your old machine for a new one. This is recommended for retail outlets where customers are present. Call Nova customer service at 1-877-326-7990 and request a swap. The cost will be approximately $150.00.

OR

• Call Nova customer service to modify the program on your current machine. This will require at least 30 minutes of your time. Call 1-877-326-7990 and request a “Truncation Partial Download”. You will need to be in front of the machine and have the merchant number. The operator will walk you through the process.
