306 Bereavement Days
Regular employees scheduled to work at least 20 hours each week are entitled to up to three days off without loss of pay in the event of death in the immediate family. Immediate family is defined as parent, parent-in-law, parent of same gender domestic partner, legal guardian, brother, sister, spouse, child, grandparent, or other person living in the employee's household. Exceptions to this policy require approval by the Director of Staffing and Employee Relations, the Director of Human Resources for the School of Medicine, or the Director of Library Human Resources.
Days missed due to a death in the family will be recorded on the employee's attendance record. If additional time is necessary, personal business days may be used. Departments may also allow the employee to use vacation days or may approve a personal leave; Contact your Human Resources Generalist for approval.
306.1 Additional Paid Time Off
