For detailed instructions, see Using
the CD-ROM
HRAF ended CD-ROM production in the year 2001 with installment 49. Part of the eHRAF Collection of Ethnography is available on CD-ROM (Installments 43-49). The entire electronic eHRAF Collection of Ethnography is available on the Web. The eHRAF Collection of Ethnography on CD-ROM (installments 43-49) uses the DynaText System, designed by Inso Corporation (formerly Electronic Book Technologies) for full-text databases and quick information retrieval. eHRAF is indexed at a paragraph level by subject categories defined in the Outline of Cultural Materials (OCM). Searching uses a combination of traditional query methods and the best features of full-context hypertext browsing. Contextual and structural elements of the documents may also be used when searching the collections. Key features of the CD-ROMs include: hyperlinks to citations, graphics, footnotes, endnotes, and OCM descriptors; custom search forms, plus search using Boolean, free-text, SGML, and OCM categories; field date, time and place coverage, and cultural information available on every page; and many thousands of pages of scrollable full-text. There are some teaching aids/user's guides available for the collection on CD-ROM. You may download them here, or you may order them from HRAF for a nominal fee. PDF files require Adobe Acrobat, which is freely distributed from Abobe here.
Back CD-ROMs (installments 43-49) are available in one of the following plans: 1) Place a standing order for the Web as an associate member and receive back CDs at $600 each (see Dues and Fees for eHRAF Collection of Ethnography: Web for more information). 2) Become a non-standing associate member and order CDs for the following dues:
All dues are in U.S. funds; subject to change. |
