Jia-Chen "Wendy" Fu
My dissertation examines the intersection of laboratory sciences and the everyday in Republican China, 1911-1949. In particular, I look at how conceptions of child health and nutrition were shaped by the complex engagement of science and social policy. My orals fields were: Modern China, Asian American/diasporia studies, and Critical Social Theory. My other Areas of Academic Interest are the History of Medicine (Chinese and western), Philosophy of Science, and Racial Formation. Jonathan Spence is my advisor.
