Professor Yokota received her PhD from UCLA in 2002. Her research and teaching interests include 18th and 19th century trans-Atlantic history, material culture, cultural history and ethnic studies. Her forthcoming book, A Culture of Insecurity: The Early American Republic as a Post-Colonial Nation, examines the transatlantic exchange of objects, ideas, and people between America and Britain during the post-Revolutionary period. Other research projects include a study of America's involvement in the trans-Pacific world.
