Steven Pincus received his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1990. He teaches early modern British and European history. He is the author of Protestantism and Patriotism: Ideologies and the Making of English Foreign Policy, 1650-1668 and England's Glorious Revolution 1688-89 which places the Glorious Revolution in the context of modern social revolutions. He has also published numerous essays on the cultural, political and intellectual history of early modern Britain.

His research interests include: England's Glorious Revolution, the History of Economic Thought, the Origins of the British Empire, Early Modern Nationalism, and Political Thought.
