Ivano Dal Prete received his Ph.D. in History of the European Society from the University of Verona, Italy. His research focuses on the history of scientific culture in early modern Europe. His book Scienza e Società nel Settecento Veneto ("Science and Society in 18th-century Veneto", Milan, 2008), explores the multifaceted features of natural philosophy in eighteenth-century Veneto and its role in political and cultural debates. He has published several articles on scientific correspondence networks in early modern Europe, on the history of observational astronomy and on its interplays with Earth sciences, politics and religion.
In 2009-10 he offers graduate and undergraduate seminars on the cultural and social history of astronomy, on the interplay of science and religion, on the history of the Earth and of the life sciences in early modern Europe.
