An autographed edition of Thomas Hardy's Love Poems
The Dorset County Museum is pleased to invite subscriptions for an autographed edition of 157 copies of Thomas Hardy's most famous love poems
Moments of Love
includes the 'Veteris Vestigia Flammae', poems of 1912-13, described by Harold Child as 'the most musically and suggestively beautiful poems that Hardy ever wrote', thirteen Emma poems from Late Lyrics and Earlier and three satellite poems selected by James Gibson from manuscripts held at the Museum. Forty seven leaves of high quality facsimile are printed with Gibson's definitive readings based on Hardy's Complete Poems of 1928 and show how the text changed from the original fair copy manuscript.
Each copy includes an autographed leaf prepared by Hardy in 1927 for a signed edition of one of his novels and never issued.
Specification:
112 pages. Case quarter-bound with green leather spine and cloth boards. Gilded on three edges, blocked real gold on spine and front board, silk head and tail bands. Matching cloth slip-case, packed individually by the binder for mailing.
Text printed in duotone, stochastic screen on 120gsm Rivoli Ivoire sheets by the Senecio Press, Charlbury, Oxford.
