TERMS OF AGREEMENT

Between

Steve Meckstroth, Milner Library, Illinois State University

and

Rosemarie Morgan, TTHA President, Yale University, with William W. Morgan, TTHA Executive Vice President, Illinois State University.

 

 

  1. The Collection will be called The Thomas Hardy Association Collection of Early Hardy Criticism (TTHACEHC). This is with the understanding that Milner Library is the owner of the Collection, and that all decisions relating to governance and management of the Collection would be made by Milner Library.
  2. Milner Library would be willing to purchase items now and then for this Collection. This is Milner policy with any collection the library owns.

Recommendations for items for inclusion in the Collection will be welcomed from officers and members of The Thomas Hardy Association, and will be seriously considered for purchase, within budgetary limitations. Milner Library would like this Collection to be developed as fully as possible in depth and breadth, and hopes it can count on TTHA’s expertise and judgment to help with this.
  5. Normally, Milner policy is not to loan items from Special Collections to individuals or groups on Inter-library Loan. Milner has occasionally made exceptions to this rule, by permission of the Special Collections Librarian, when scholarly need was clear and security was guaranteed. In the case of the Thomas Hardy Association Collection of Early Hardy Criticism, the library would go with the Association’s advice as to how literally to enforce the no-loan policy, and how many and what exceptions to make to it, if any.

This Agreement has been made on February 4th, 2003 and will be signed off on April . . . . 2003

Steve Meckstroth has consulted fully with Dean of University Libraries Cheryl Elzy and Associate Dean for Public Services and Collections Dane Ward in arriving at this agreement.
