"Yale to add Greek study program," Yale Daily News, January 31, 2001
"Also growing is the Genocide Studies Program, headed
by professor Ben Kiernan. The program initially was associated
with the Cambodian Genocide Project, but as that initiative
winds down it is moving to collect information about genocide
in areas like East Timor and Rwanda. Although the Cambodian
project helped gather evidence for possible prosecution in
Cambodia, not all projects have only this goal. "Even
if there's not a tribunal at the end of the road, it's still
an important academic exercise and social exercise,"
Wheeler said. In an example of the expanding program, two
Rwandan scholars recently visited Yale and received laptop
computers and training about how to create an Internet database
of their genocide research." (www.yaledailynews.com/article.asp?AID=14388)
