About Yale G&S

What we do:
The Yale Gilbert and Sullivan Society is an entirely student-run organization dedicated to the works of Sir Arthur Sullivan and W.S. Gilbert. A general description of their work may be found at The Gilbert and Sullivan Archive.
Each year, the Society produces one cabaret and one main show, selected from among the fourteen Gilbert and Sullivan operas. Our recent main shows include: The Mikado, The Pirates of Penzance, and Princess Ida.
The cabaret performance is a chance for the members of the Society to perform various numbers in the manner of a revue. The cabaret takes place at the beginning of the year, and is a free, open-to-the-public performance. It is also the first opportunity for prospective members to enroll in the Society.

Membership
The only requirement for membership is participation in one main show. Participation may include, but is not limited to: stage management, publicity, tech work, costuming and music direction. Even such work as helping to set up the spaces during the week of the performance is appreciated and encouraged.
All members are added to the Gilbert and Sullivan email list, which is used to send out information about upcoming events. If you want to be added to our list, list email steven.feis@yale.edu.

Auditions
The vocal company of the Society is selected each year from among the general membership. In order to be in the cast of a main production, a member must participate in the auditions for the roles. Anyone may audition. Audition schedules, when decided, will be posted here.
