GCA Teams:

The Office of Grant and Contract Administration focuses its customer service for faculty and department support staff through a team model. The basic idea of the team model is that a balanced group of professionals, under the direction of a team leader, can address the grant/contract and other pre-award needs of their portfolio of departments and PIs more effectively than can solo practitioners. There are currently 5 GCA teams of five members each. Four teams serve the Medical School Campus and one serves the Central Campus. Team roles consist of:

Team Leader - The Team Leader is a Sr. Grant and Contract Manager who manages the activity of the team. (S)he deploys the knowledge and skills of all the team members to meet the pre-award needs of the assigned departments as effectively as possible. The Team Leader also works with departmental leaders to establish a collaborative partnership aournd mutual expectations and common goals.

Grant and Contract Manager - The Grant and Contract Manager receive their assignments from the Team Leader. They typically review grants and contracts and handle other pre-award functions required by the team's dpeartments.

Grant and Contract Coordinator - The Coordinator supports the technical work of the team. Typically, Coordinators will be assigned less complex types of grants and contracts as they build their expertise and develop their skill sets.

Sr. Administrative Assistant - The Administrative Assistant supports the team by handling its administrative and clerical needs. Typically, these include data entry, log-in of arriving work, file management, scheduling, photocopying and scanning, handling incoming and outgoing mail, managing the team's email box and incoming phone calls.
