2008 New Student Checklist AND INFORMATION

Welcome to the New Student Checklist and Information page for all new students matriculating in the Graduate School in fall 2008. This information will help in the transition to life at Yale, so please read it carefully and take the actions requested. Please share this information with your spouse, partner and your parents as you like, as we welcome them as members of the Graduate School Community. The items directly below are required of all new students, followed by a checklist of general items, and finally reminders for international students.

Requirements (all students)

Bullet image By June 9: Submit ID Card forms

Bullet image By June 30: Submit health forms and review important health coverage information here. *Waiver deadline is Sept. 15, 2008.

Bullet image By July 15: Submit transcripts verifying undergraduate degree, if not previously sent with application.


General preparation

Bullet image Transfer or obtain funds for start-up expenses (see information regarding stipends)

Bullet image Bring copies of admission letter to access Yale services in advance of receiving ID card at Orientation

Bullet image If desired, attend the Yale Summer English Language Institute (optional)

Bullet image Prepare for SPEAK test in August

Bullet image Consult the resources and Handbook of the Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS); visit OISS upon arrival in New Haven.

Bullet image Choose a Dining Services meal plan or purchase “Eli Bucks” online
