Individual
Consulting
An individual teaching consultation has many benefits. Though
many teaching principles and practices can be learned in workshops
and lectures, there is no substitution for individual attention
to your teaching, your goals, and your students. In addition, when
your consultation includes a classroom visitation (with or without
a video camera), you can learn things about your teaching you may
not even be aware of.
Though all consultations with the GTC are strictly confidential
between you and the Center, you may want to inform your department,
or a potential employer, of your teaching improvement efforts.
Increasingly, academic hiring committees are looking for evidence
of effective teaching. Video records, results of consultations,
and your ability to speak knowingly about your own teaching are
fast becoming standard forms of evidence. |
