Life here at Yale should be more than just academics and we are here to help make that as easy as possible for you! We organize a range of social events and outings throughout the year to appeal to the diverse tastes and needs of the grad student community. Our goal is to get you out of the lab, office, or library and mingling with other fabulous students. On this page you will find descriptions of a few of the events being held throughout the year. FIRST FRIDAY AT FIVE (FFF) HAPPY HOURS
On the first Friday of every month, hundreds of graduate students, professors and administrators turn out for these themed happy hours, which take place from 5-7 p.m. in the McDougal Center Common Room at HGS. We provide the food, beverages and music, you provide the stimulating conversation. (And if you are a band and would like to be our feature, send an email. 21 and over with Yale ID to be served alcohol.

FALL CASINO NIGHT SEMIFORMAL & WINTER BALL

Last year’s charity casino night was a smash so it's now an annual event! Mark your calendars for Saturday, December 1st to gamble for pretend chips and win prizes, all while helping a great cause. And of course you can put on the Ritz with the 2008 Winter Ball. More than 500 graduate and professional students turn out for this elegant formal event at the New Haven Lawn Club, featuring desserts, beverages and dancing. Tix on sale at the McDougal Box office in advance and at the door.

sushi making and sake tasting- Oct 2007
Learn how to make simple sushi at home, and become a sake connoisseur all in one evening. While not in class, relax with your friends and enjoy a cold glass of sake and chef prepared sushi. In the spring, we will have a similar event (Tacos and Tequila perhaps?) Tix on sale at Box Office.

BAGEL BRUNCH BEFORE THE GAME: Nov 17
the Yale- Harvard football game is a giant party weekend. Start it off at the McDougal Common Room for FREE bagels, coffee & mimosas (21+) with some spirited fight songs before heading out to the Bowl for tailgating and the game. Yale ID gets you into the student section of the Yale Bowl.

LIVE MUSIC CONCERTS AT TOAD’S PLACE
Take a break from work and come enjoy some exciting live performances coming through New Haven. The McDougal Center will sell discounted tickets at the Box Office HGS Rm 123 M-F 10am-5pm.
