Black Graduate Network (BGN)
The BGN unites all graduate and professional students of African descent, regardless of their school affiliation for fellowship, networking opportunities and service. BGN is open to all members of the Yale community regardless of their background. Also, BGN strives to support and supplement the political, community, and social efforts of other schools and departmental minority organizations.


Chabad at Yale University

The purpose of Chabad at Yale is to provide for the exploration and observance of Judaism for all members of the yale community, particularly graduate and professional students, in an intimate, non-judgemental, and home-like environment. The philosophy of Chabad is that every Jew, regardless of observance, has a contribution to make to the totality of the Jewish people The entire Yale community is welcome at all of our events, especially our weekly Shabbat meals and services. Membership in the organization is informal, and open to all Yale graduate and professional school students, as well as individuals in research, teaching, or fellowship positions across the University.

The Cinema at the Whitney

The Cinema at the Whitney is an inter-school, interdisciplinary student group governed by a joint committee of undergraduate and graduate students devoted to promoting film culture at Yale University. Its goal is to promote film culture by showing films on 33mm (film’s original and best format) every week, and is located in the Whitney Humanities Center’s auditorium (53 Wall Street). Films are generally screened on Fridays at 7 and 9 pm. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsor, all our screenings are free and open to the general public.

DanceFunk is a new non-audition dance group that does all kinds of dances, ranging from ballet to hip hop to ballroom etc. It is open to all graduate and professional school students. Members choreograph, teach and perform their dances every semester. Dance lessons are also taught by experienced members.

We are an organization for anyone with an interest in the Nordic countries. Most of our members are either Nordic, are of Nordic descent, or have spent time there, but certainly not all, and we welcome anyone. The society is mostly a social one, holding some sort of function (e.g. dinners or happy hours) about once a month. In addition, we try to keep everyone informed of Nordic-related events, such as concerts, and occasionally arrange such events. We try to be “ambassadors” for the Nordic countries and disseminate as much knowledge about them as we can when we do have our events, though the spirit of that is probably captured in the above paragraphs.

The Yale Graduate Student Rugby Football Club (YGSRFC) was created in 2004/2005 by two MBA students from the Yale School of Management. Currently, professional and graduate students as well as staff comprise the team. Beginners and experienced players are welcome to play. The team’s goals now are to allow experienced players to continue playing rugby, and to allow new players to learn. This will bring students from different schools together, and provide a positive recreational and social outlet for all students at Yale.

Yale Health Community Outreach and Education (CORE) is a student-run organization that has coordinated and conducted health-related service projects in Isla de Mendez, a rural fishing village in southern El Salvador, since 2002. In collaboration with La Coordinadora, a local Salvadoran sustainable development group, these projects have focused on addressing the specific medical needs jointly identified by local community residents and the Foundation for Self Sufficiency in Central America, a Latin American non-profit organization. Yale Health CORE is also committed to providing outreach and education to our own community in New Haven.
