Graduate Students can drop in or schedule individual, confidential
counseling appointments with the Assistant Dean for Student
Affairs, Lisa
Brandes. Students
can discuss personal concerns or seek assistance on student
life issues, and receive advice, information and
referrals as needed.
The Assistant Dean is the Graduate Students' Advocate in dealing
with concerns and complaints about University
and Student services. She coordinates services for all students
in the Graduate School, including housing, health, dining services,
athletics, parking and transit, security, religion, and more. |

Brief
Bio Lisa Brandes received her BA from LSU and her PhD in
Political Science at Yale. She taught international relations, foreign
policy and gender politics at Tufts and Wesleyan Universities before
returning to Yale to direct student life activities at the McDougal
Center. She is active in local politics, church, and community service
in New Haven, and in women’s issues and graduate student life
in professional associations. She lives in the Westville section
of New Haven with her husband Scott McLean, a professor at Quinnipiac
University, son Charlie and 2 cats.
