Wireless and Computing
at the McDougal Center Wireless Networking
The McDougal Center Common Room, including
the Blue Dog Café, McDougal Center Room 119A&B HGS,
and the HGS Courtyard are served by wireless access system (currently
802.11b). Please visit the ITS Wireless Networking webpage.
Students must provide their own 802.11b networking card and should
register at the Student Network Registration Page.
Wired Internet/Dial-up Network Access
The McDougal Center Common Room, including the Blue Dog Café, has ITS
wall-jacks for wired internet and dialup access. You must provide your own
Ethernet or phone cord and register your laptop at the Student Network Registration
Page.
Email Kiosks
A self-service standup email kiosk featuring 2 PCs is available in the Blue
Dog Café in the Common Room of the McDougal Center during operating
hours (usually 9am-11pm weekdays, 11am-11pm weekends). These ITS kiosks
only have email and internet software, and no printing facilities. Please

McDougal Center Computer Cluster
In the lower level of the McDougal Center, rooms B47-51, there is an ITS Public
Cluster. The Cluster has 9 PC and Mac stations, including a Mac multimedia/publishing
station with scanner.

Printing
The McDougal Cluster has an ITS printing station, with a laser copier/ printer
on the ITS Web Print.
See the webpage or posters at the Print station for directions. Students
and faculty already have a Print account setup, using their Netid and password.
However, all users must put money in their account; directions are on the
Web Print page.
Visitors without a Yale Netid should view the Web Print page above for information
on setting up an account and using the system. Operations & Help
This cluster is open ONLY during normal center operating hours,
usually 9am-11pm weekdays and 11am-11pm weekends. It is not accessible
after
hours. Residents of HGS dormitory have 24-hour access to their own
private computer cluster in a separate location from the McDougal
Cluster. The McDougal cluster is basically self-service, with no
on-site computing assistants or staff. If students have problems
or questions with the equipments or use of the facilities, they should
contact student
computing, by emailing directly, or by contacting
the HGS computing assistants. McDougal Center staff do not have the expertise
to provide technical or computing assistance to students.
