Standard Aid Package
General Information
In 2007-2008, fellowship stipends for doctoral students will range
from a minimum of $20,000 for nine months to $28,000 or more for
twelve months, depending on the student's discipline.
In addition, students in the humanities and social sciences can
receive a Summer Study Fellowship of $3,700 in any three of the
first five summers of graduate study, and a dissertation fellowship
of at least $20,000 in their fifth or sixth year of study.
Over the course of graduate study, the typical student's financial
aid commitment from Yale totals more than $225,000 not including
the cost of health care benefits and other services provided to
doctoral students.
Financial assistance is provided in the form of Yale University
Fellowships, teaching fellowships, traineeships, and research
assistantships. The
nature of the assistance varies among the divisions and departments.
Yale University Fellowships are awarded at the time of admission.
Students are normally provided a level of support comparable
to the Fellowship
awarded at admission, from the first through the fourth year
of study. Eligible students in the Humanities and Social Sciences
receive University
Dissertation Fellowships in their fifth or sixth year of study.
