Official score reports must be submitted for all required examinations. Required or acceptable examinations are listed below as is the method of submission. If you are considering applying for the Fall of 2012 please register for the examination you will need as soon as possible as testing centers and available testing dates fill quickly.
The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General is required of all applicants to the Yale Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. In addition, certain Departments & Programs require scores from one of the Subject Tests. The Educational Testing Service administers the GRE in the United States and abroad. Scores from this examination (or from the GRE Revised General Test) must be “released” to Yale University Graduate School of Arts & Sciences (code 3987). If you are applying to a Ph.D. program associated with the Schools of Forestry & Environmental Studies, Epidemiology & Public Health, Nursing or Management, you must send your scores to the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (code 3987) and not to the individual Schools which have separate codes for applicants applying to professional degree programs (e.g., MF, MPH, MSN and MBA degree programs).

Please use code 3TJ-30-78 for the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences for your GMAT scores. GRE scores must be released to institution code (3987). The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) scores are acceptable in addition to or in lieu of TOEFL and TSE test scores. For details about this testing alternative, please visit www.ielts.org. At the time of test-taking you will want to specify ‘Yale University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.’ The Yale University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences only accepts scores submitted electronically by the IELTS test center. No paper Test Report Forms will be accepted. No institutional code is required. You must request to have the scores sent electronically using the IELTS system directly from the test center where you took the test.
