On-campus graduate student dormitory living can be especially helpful in providing an opportunity to become familiar with Yale and the academic community. Advantages are proximity to University facilities, opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds and fields of study to socialize through a variety of planned functions, and facilities provided for relaxation and recreation. The 575 dormitory rooms provided for single students are varied in room types, layout and facilities designed to reflect different life styles and needs.

| Assignment Timeline
Beginning the third week of April, assignment offers will be e-mailed to applicants and will continue until all assignments are completed. Applicants applying for housing will receive rolling notification of housing availability for 4-6 weeks after the submission of an application.
There will be a stated time frame for accepting the housing assignment offer. Once confirmation is received, the binding contract will be forwarded to the applicant. Contracts not returned within specified time frame will have their offer rescinded. Applicants are encouraged to read the Terms and Conditions of the Housing Contract carefully and completely. Once signed, a contract is enforced for the time period stated on the contract.
Applicants applying for single semester housing (ex. Fall semester only) will be assigned within the initial assignment time-frame ONLY if there is an alternate semester applicant (ex. Spring semester only) to match and complete an academic year contract period. Otherwise all single semester applicants will be assigned to available rooms after July 1st and notified accordingly.

Occupancy Time Limits
There are currently no restrictions that limit the number of years a registered student may reside in a Graduate Dormitory. All students who have not signed a renewal contract, must vacate the graduate dormitories by the contracted end date unless summer housing has been arranged through the Graduate Dormitory Office. Summer housing may or not be for the same room or dormitory currently occupied. If a student completes their degree mid-year, they must request a housing exception if they plan on staying for the remainder of the academic year. Students must provide ample notice and understand their requests are not a guarantee of continuation of housing.
