First step, aquire identification: the Shuttle Bus Guest Pass

Heterosexual Domestic Partners cannot receive the normal Yale ID but they are eligible for many of the same privileges granted to spouses. Domestic partners of current G&P students should apply for a Shuttle Bus Guest Pass. This form of identification serves not only as a shuttle bus pass, but also as the primary means of identification for other Yale services. To apply for the Shuttle Bus Guest Pass, go to the Parking and Transit Office at 155 Whitney Avenue (map).

Benefits and Services

1. Gym and Golf Course. Membership fees apply. Registered Yale graduate and professional students may purchase a membership for their partners at Payne Whitney Gymnasium and the Yale Golf Course at the same rates as employees and affiliates. When purchasing a membership for your partner, you will need to show your Yale ID card and some form of documentation indicating that you and your partner reside at the same address (e.g., an apartment lease with both names, valid passports or driver's licences, or recent bank statement, credit card bill, or utility bill). Go to Payne-Whitney Gymnasium at 70 Tower Parkway (map). The Membership Office is normally open between 10am-6pm. 2. Library. Membership fees apply. Registered Yale graduate and professional students may purchase borrowing privileges in the Yale University Library system for their partners at the rate of $50 per semester or $100 per year, with the same level of privileges as is provided to affiliates. You must go with your partner to the Privileges Office of Sterling Memorial Library (map), complete and sign a form identifying the student and his or her partner, and present documentation confirming a shared residence (e.g., an apartment lease with both names, valid passports or driver's licences, or recent bank statement, credit card bill, or utility bill). As is required for all persons for whom Library privileges are extended and who are not current employees or students, the partner will also be required to provide a credit card number and sign an authorization form stating that all financial obligations incurred to the Yale University Library may be charged to the credit card..
3. Yale Shuttle. Yale provides AM and PM shuttle service around the campus and in many of the surrounding neighborhoods. Present your Yale ID or Shuttle Bus Guest Pass when boarding a shuttle bus. See the Parking and Transit website for information on shuttle routes and schedules.
