Information and registration for the "Random Dinner"

"What is this Random Dinner?" you ask.

Well, in short, Random Dinners attempts to facilitate the meeting of
graduate and professional school students with those in disciplines
outside their own through good company and good food.

I am sure that many, if not all, of you welcome the idea of wining and
dining with an eclectic group of students from various backgrounds, so
why not give it a try.

First thing's first, this entire undertaking relies on a few of you
generous souls who are willing to host a group of 5-12 people (wholly
dependent on what you want) at your abode for dinner.

As for the rest of you, if you're hesitant, it is expected because I
really haven't told you anything and consequently you might suspect I
am luring you into some elaborate pyramid scheme. So here are some AQs
(anticipated questions) answered.

Q: When and where are the dinners held?
A:  There are three nights to choose from:
        Friday, May 11th, 2007;
        Saturday, May 12th, 2007;
        Sunday, May 13th, 2007.
Pick the night that suits you best.  The location depends on the host or hostess.

Q. When does registration end?
A: Registration ends on Friday, January 19th at NOON, but late registers will be
contacted if and when someone cancels.

Q: What's for dinner?
A: This is a potluck dinner so what you end up eating is wholly
dependent on you and your dinner companions. The GPSS will provide a
little wine - enough for a glass for each of you.

Q: Can I bring a friend/significant other?
A: If you feel more comfortable going with someone, you can sign up
together. Of course, if you must bring a friend - try to limit it to
one.. else it's not really a 'random' dinner!

Q: What if I can't cook?
A: Don't let that be the reason you don't participate, if need be,
bring a pizza or a pie.

Q: Who will be at dinner?
A: Again this is dependent on who signs up. I've been told women are
more inclined to participate, so I strongly encourage our male
counterparts to do so as well.

Q: What if I don't like anyone at the dinner?
A: That shouldn't be a concern. With a group of 6-8 people, I think
your chances are pretty good and if not, you can always lie and say
you forgot to feed your dog then leave.

Q: What if I have a special dietary request?
A: It is very hard to accommodate all the different dietary requests:
vegan, vegetarian, kosher, etc. - so we kindly ask that if you have a
special need that you bring food that you can eat (and have a little
snack before hand in case you get hungry).
