2008 Orientation Activities
Wednesday, August 27 – Game Night
Make some new friends at GPSS game night. Bring your favorite
board or card game, or play one of ours. Join us in the Senate chambers (GPSCY, 3rd floor)
starting at 8pm. Snacks will be provided.
Friday, August 29 – Dance Lessons in Ballroom
Put on your dancing shoes and head to the GPSCY ballroom to dance
the night away. Lessons will be provided by members of the tango and swing clubs. No experience, physical coordination, or partner required. Doors open at 8pm.
Tuesday, September 2 – Party at the Peabody
Meet the dinosaurs and some new friends. GPSS and the Peabody
Museum are cosponsoring free tours and a reception for you and guests.
Come explore for yourself! Family-friendly tours start at 4pm, Happy Hour
reception starts at 5pm. 21+ with ID to drink.
Friday, September 5 – GPSS Welcome Party
The Great Debate: which New Haven apizzeria is the best? Have you
tried them all? Join GPSS to settle the question once and for all! We’ll have a
wide selection of apizza from all your favorite places. The party starts at 6:45pm!
Saturday, September 6 – Tent Party After Party
After the Tent Party at HGS, head on down to GPSCY where the party
continues. Your favorite GPSS officers will be handing out free drink tickets
throughout the evening so make some new friends.
Wednesday, September 10 – Graduate and Professional SPEED DATING
Want to explore New Haven with a new friend? Back by popular
demand, we’ll be having a night of Speed Dating in the GPSCY ballroom.
We’ll work in 2 shifts: 8:00pm & 9:30pm. Pre-registration will be required.
Saturday, September 27 - Yale Day of Service
Team up with your fellow students to work on community service projects in and around New Haven! Registration and breakfast at HGS from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM. Shuttles to service sites depart from HGS at 9:30 AM and return at 1:30 PM. Refreshments to follow.
