NEWS
To all PhD candidates in EEB, F&ES, G&G, EPH and Anthropology
YIBS (the Yale Institute for Biospheric Studies) has created a new Center for Field Ecology. One
of its activities is providing up to five PhD students with small grants of up to $3000 to
allow them to gather the pilot data they need to justify more substantial funding. The grants are
aimed primarily at students in their first or second year; more senior students are not ruled
out but must demonstrate that they have been unable to receive funding from other sources.
This is the first call for proposals. The deadline is March 25th 2002. If we do not make 5
awards the first time around, there will be a second call later in the year.
(Please note that if you would like assistance preparing your resume, you
may schedule an appointment with Mary Johnson, director of GCS in the next
few weeks. Call 432-BLUE (2583) to make an appointment.)
