Title  Structures Engineers ­ Gas Turbine Engines

Location  Hartford, CT 

Description

Work on the design and analysis of Fan, Low and High Pressure Compressor components of Gas Turbine engines as part of Integrated Product Teams (IPT) providing structural analysis support, analysis of structural data from engine tests, data reduction, interpretation and documentation of results. These positions require coordinating the results of aerodynamic, structural, heat transfer, and manufacturing experts to arrive at design solutions that balance the requirements of performance, cost, and weight. May also be involved in improving analysis methods.

Qualifications:

PhD or equivalent in related engineering field with experience or equivalent qualifications in structural analysis in aerospace, automotive or similar industries. Must have majority of the following skills:

  • Specialization in Continuum Mechanics, Static or Dynamic Structural Analysis or Finite Element Analysis methods
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems
  • Understanding of thermally induced stress
  • Strong Finite Element Analysis (FEA) skills using codes such as ANSYS and NASTRAN
  • Thorough understanding of the theory of Vibration and Modal Analysis in structural systems.
  • Ability to draw a freebody diagram, shear & bending moment diagrams
  • Understanding of Material behavior and fatigue capability.
  • Understanding of Basic Signal Processing methods and Structural Instrumentation methods is a plus
  • Understanding of Modal testing methods is a plus.

  • NASTRAN
  • UG
  • MATLAB
