Due to the international nature of this symposium, we extend a special welcome to our guests traveling from all over the world.
All participants arriving from developing or transitioning countries will receive a waiver of the conference registration fee (please indicate this when you fill out your registration form). In addition, we can offer these guests free accommodations - please contact firstname.lastname@example.org by May 28th to reserve a space. Unfortunately, our budget does not allow us to provide any additional scholarships for other travel costs at this time. We encourage participants traveling from overseas to apply for other sources of funding to cover transportation, per diem, and rooming costs.
International Guests may need to apply for a visa. Applying for a visa usually entails a $100 visa application fee and a letter of invitation from your host. If you need a letter of invitation, please click here to email the Yale Program on Forest Certification to request a letter from us. Please do this as soon as possible, as visas sometimes take several months to be processed.
The most likely appropriate visa choice will be a B1 (visitor for business) or B-2 (visitor for pleasure). If you are from one of the countries that participates in the Visa Waiver Program (see box below), you will be eligible for a waiver – either a WB (visa waiver for business) or a WT (visa waiver for pleasure.) Some countries may not accept the B visas altogether, and you will instead want to apply for a J-visa. The websites below can provide you with further information.
