FOOT leaders display their fresh pancakes - and FOOT pride! Trail pancakes are one of many delicious meals that await you on the trail.

Cooking and Eating on FOOT

If you have special dietary concerns, don't fret! We are used to accomodating vegetarians, kosher eaters, and people with allergies. Please see the FAQ for more questions, or simply contact us.

Meals on FOOT are hearty and DELICIOUS! All the food we eat has been tested by thousands of backpackers. Making food on the trail is also a fun and creative group experience. (see pancakes above!) Groups have created rice puddings, pizzas, quesadillas, cobblers, cookies, stir-fries, Thai peanut noodles, and much much more. Meal time can be the best time of the day.

Although we'll provide more than enough food and drink for the trip, if you'd like you can bring along your own supply of powdered drink mixes (cocoa, tea, Tang, lemonade) and/or GORP (Good Old Raisins and Peanuts!). Grocery stores carry pre-packaged trail mixes, but it's also fun to make your own. Suggested ingredients: peanuts, raisins, oats, pretzels, m&ms, sunflower seeds, chocolate chips, pecans, dried fruits, yogurt-covered raisins, Reese's Pieces, cereal, cashews, Goldfish, dried carrots, Craisins, butterscotch chips shredded coconut, chocolate chips, wasabi peas - the possibilities are endless!
