FLAGS (Fund for Lesbian and Gay Studies) is the founding aspect of lesbian and gay studies at Yale. Born of an anonymous gift, dedicated to funding lesbian and gay research, it was for many years the sole lesbian and gay studies entity at Yale. Now a central component of the larger lesbian and gay studies committee, FLAGS continues to provide funding for lesbian and gay studies research, library acquisition, visiting professorships, and a range of other academic programs.
