In a nutshell ...
All students are required to take and pass the Driver Safety Awareness class in order to be covered under Yale University's Automobile Insurance.
A $500 deductible will apply for property damage incurred to any Yale owned or rental vehicle.
Use of personal vehicles for Yale sponsored activities is strongly discouraged because your auto insurance is primary and Yale's insurance is secondary.
When renting a vehicle in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico or US Virgin Islands, it is not necessary to purchase the additional liability insurance. (see below)
Use of 12 and 15 passenger van use is prohibited. (see below)
The Yale and the World Website contains valuable information for travelers and group leaders traveling abroad. This information can be found at: http://world.yale.edu/abroad/travel_resources.html. Please take a few moments to look at the tips and checklists on this site.
If you are traveling outside of the United States, please take a few minutes to complete the emergency travel and contact form at http://world.yale.edu/travelform/. The information you provide will be used by the Office of the Secretary to reach you in the event of an emergency.

Activities Involving Alcohol Use
All University policies on alcohol use must be followed both ON and OFF campus.
If you do not hire an outside caterer for alcohol service, but instead are serving the alcohol yourselves, all servers must be TIPS certified. Click here for more information on TIPS training.
Claims, injuries and lawsuits resulting from the unlawful service of alcohol may not be covered by University insurance-the organization will be "on their own" for any resulting damages.
