MEDEX TRAVEL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

MEDEX Travel Assistance and Online Member Center 

Yale students and current University employees are automatically enrolled in MEDEX Travel Assistance and are provided with access to the MEDEX Online Member Center at no charge.  

Medex Login

Users with a Yale NetID do not need to create a specific MEDEX account.

If you have a Yale NetID, you may log in to MEDEX with your NetID and password to be automatically directed to the MEDEX account page.

If you do not have a Yale Net ID, you must create your MEDEX account. You will then be directed to the Yale MEDEX account page.

The MEDEX account page provides pertinenet telephone numbers, information on the latest medical and security alerts from around the world, and an overview of the MEDEX program.

 

 

What exactly is MEDEX Travel Assistance?

  • MEDEX provides International and Domestic emergency medical, security and travel assistance services any where in the world.
  •  24/7/365 multilingual assistance.
  • Coverage applies to business and personal travel 100 miles or more away from your permanent residence.
  • Note: MEDEX is not health insurance and should not be confused with member enrollment at University Health Services. 
  • While traveling, your MEDEX ID card is your key to travel security. To contact MEDEX, simply call collect, or use the toll-free in country numbers listed on the ID card.

  • Certain coverage terms, conditions and exclusions apply and should be understood prior to travel as described in the MEDEX SECURE Program Description Guide.

     

Who is eligible for this benefit?

Yale University provides MEDEX Travel Assistance at no charge to all students, and current University employees (known as "members") while traveling on University business or for pleasure.

What type of services does MEDEX provide?

Yale students and current University employees are automatically enrolled in MEDEX and entitled access to the MEDEX Online Member Center.

Can I add dependents?

Medex coverage is automatically extended to the spouses and legal dependents of University students and current employees whenever they travel together.

Coverage for Dependents not traveling with you:

To obtain coverage for dependents who are planning to travel independently, University members may contact MEDEX directly from their Yale.edu email address to request enrollment.  The rate is $4.00 per month and includes a personalized ID card issued by MEDEX.

What about non-Yale chaperones, volunteers or guides traveling with a University sponsored program?

"Small Group" coverage is available for non-Yale affiliates who intend to travel with a University sponsored group.

The current rate for "Small Group" participants is $4.00 per month.

Graduating Students

MEDEX coverage will continue through August 31st following graduation.

For students traveling after graduation due to the award of a Yale sponsored grant or fellowship, coverage will continue at no cost for the duration of the award.   Award administrators are to notify MEDEX of these students

using the "Small Group" enrollment roster.

Register Your Travel:

If you are traveling, please take a few minutes to register your travel with the Office of the Secretary. The information you provide will be used by the Office of the Secretary to reach you in the event of an emergency, and is especially important if you are traveling abroad.
