Driver Safety Awareness Class
Driver Safety Awareness Class should be taken by employees who have occasion to drive a Yale owned vehicle, or rent vehicles 3 times or more per year for Yale affiliated business.
Yale students are required to have taken Driver Safety Awareness class before they can drive Yale owned vehicles or rent a vehicle on Yale’s insurance.
A list of persons that have successfully completed the Drivers Safety Awareness class is maintained by the Office of Risk Management. Any driver having an accident who is not on the approved drivers list, will double the deductible charged to the driver’s organization.
The Drivers Safety Awareness Class is approximately 2 hrs in duration and focuses on the “5 Keys for Space Cushion Driving”, which are:
- Aim High in Steering
- Get the Big Picture
- Keep Your Eyes Moving
- Leave Yourself an Out
- Make Sure They See You
Class Registration
Classes are offered on a regular basis throughout the school year and are listed on the Yale University Training and Certification web site.
To register, please proceed with these 4 simple steps.
- Step 1. Go to Training and Certification at Yale
- Step 2. Select Office of Risk Management
- Step 3. Select Risk Management Driver Safety Awareness
- Step 4. Simply select the desired class & time to register
