Funds Management
Funds Management is responsible for administering the University's restricted funds. This includes:
- Establishing new funds; endowments, student loans, expendable gifts and building funds
- Providing stewardship for all restricted funds
- Preparing annual financial reports for donors
- Assisting in the placement of gifts in proper accounts
- Managing the fiduciary responsibility for the University's gift annuities and life income funds
- Budgeting and distributing endowment income each year and budgeting and monitoring unrestricted and restricted gifts to the operating budget
This office acts as a liaison with Departmental and School offices-Provost, OIR, FAS Departments and Professional Schools, and other Central Offices including Controller, Financial Reporting, General Accounting, Development and Treasury Services.
Funds Management provides specific services in the following areas:
- Acts as a training/consulting/ help desk resource regarding restricted gifts
- Maintains the University's endowment data base - ALICE
- Provides advice and counsel in the establishment of new funds
- Researches and prepares financial historical analysis of restricted funds
- Supports organizations working on long-range planning in regard to gift histories and projections
- Prepares statistical data for departments for external reporting requirements
- Serves as a permanent member of the Gift Implementation and Stewardship Committee to ensure compliance with donors expectations and designations
