Reporting to the Vice President for Finance and Business Operations, the Assistant Vice President for Business Operations (AVP) is accountable for identifying, mobilizing, and optimizing financial and other resources in schools and departments to help advance the University's mission, and ensuring that faculty, students and staff receive high quality administrative support in a manner compliant with University policies and procedures. The AVP enables school and department faculty and program leadership to maximize their focus on program activities and minimize their time required on administrative activities. A key aspect of this position is to identify, pursue, and realize opportunities to make administrative and financial processes more effective and efficient by simplifying, streamlining, standardizing, and relocating work where appropriate, e.g., through the use of regional business offices and institutional shared services.

The AVP serves as the functional supervisor of all lead administrators within departments, schools, and units at Yale outside of the School of Medicine. The AVP is responsible for working in collaboration with the School of Medicine Deputy Dean for Finance and Administration to ensure business operations are managed in an effective, efficient, and integrated manner across the entire campus. The AVP is accountable --jointly with the cognizant Dean, Director, or Chair-- for the recruitment, selection, professional development, and performancemanagement of lead administrators at the University.
