Cary B. Scapillato
Assistant Vice President and Controller
Cary came to Yale in January 2000 as Controller. His responsibilities include General Accounting (including Payroll), Financial Reporting, Investment Accounting, Taxes, Treasury Services, Risk Management and Trusts and Estates. Cary’s functions also include a dotted line responsibility with Accounts Payable and maintaining adequate internal controls throughout the University.
Cary is a CPA and graduated from Loyola University in Chicago with a BBA.
Prior to joining Yale, Cary was controller of McKinsey & Company’s Business Technology Office in Stamford, Connecticut, and prior to that was treasurer of McKinsey & Company in New York City. Prior to joining McKinsey & Company, Cary was controller of a start-up information consulting company and vice president of finance for two telecommunication companies. Cary began his career in public accounting with Price Waterhouse.
Since 2001, Cary has served as president, vice president, treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors of Youth Continuum, Inc., a private, non-profit, multi-service community agency serving at-risk children, youth and families in the greater New Haven community. Youth Continuum coordinates care for children and families with complex needs through a continuum of service-based programs.
Cary lives with his wife, Paula, in Weston, Connecticut and has two adult children, Christopher and Stephen.
