Inductively-Coupled Plasmaspectrometer (ICP) Analysis

The concentrations of 11 elements (Al, Ca, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Na, P, Pb, Zn) in each sample solution were determined using a Perkin Elmer Optima 3000 Inductively-Coupled Plasmaspectrometer (ICP). A total of 42 sample solutions were run through the ICP in two batches of 21. The ICP was calibrated before each use and again after every 10 samples by running a blank and samples of known concentrations (10 mg/l and 100 mg/l of these elements in the sample solutions were recorded and saved in a data-file for analysis.
