Saltonstall Ridge, East Haven, CT Over the first three months in 1999, a group of Yale students worked with Prof. Tom Siccama and Prof. Dan Vogt in the dimensional analysis of several tree parameters to develop functional relationships of the allometry of Ailanthus ailtissima (Mill.) Swingle or Tree of Heaven. Allometey refers to the study of change in proportion of various parts of a tree as a consequence of growth. We developed several equations that can be used to predict the tree's mass and volume, without leaves, from its diameter at breast height (DBH). A few of the more valuable equations include the following. Total Dry Weight of Branches: Total Dry Weight of Bole Bark: Total Dry Weight of Bole Wood: Total Bole Volume: Total Above-Ground Biomass: Ailanthus Characteristics --------------------Basic TreeData-------------------Credits |
