This shrub has a biennial cane that roots at the tips.

TWIGS: Covered with reddish-brown hairs and weak, nearly straight prickles.

HABITAT: Thicket forming; found in fields, edges, disturbed places.

RANGE: Introduced from Asia. Originally cultivated, now widely naturalized.
