Field Notes:

  • Small tree/shrub, around 30 ft. tall, with short trunk and open crown
  • BUDS: Stalked with two scales
  • TWIGS: Greenish and hairless
  • BARK: Green bark with vertical white stripes
  • HABITAT: Understory tree; moist upland soils
