Silky Dogwood
Cornus amomum


Small to medium sized shrub growing from 1 to 3 meters high. Forms dense clones. 

BUDS: Opposite; sessile; vavalte scales. 

TWIGS: Fuzzy at ends, unlike gray dogwoods; dull red/purple silky-hairy twigs with a brown pith. 

BARK: Reddish to gray; with conspicuous corky fissures. 

HABITAT: Wetland areas; marshes, swamps, lakeshores, along streams.
