Field Notes:
An introduced ornamental and shade tree that is easily propagated from seed and is tolerant of city conditions, growing to heights averaging 70 ft.
BUDS: Very sticky; end buds are even larger than large opposite lateral buds
TWIGS: Stout and smooth; light brown to ashy colored; large, inversely trqiangular leaf scars with seven bundle scars in a lunate line
BARK: Thin and smooth, becoming ridged and furrowed and covered in thin plates
The fruit husks are strongly thorny unlike those of other buckeyes.
