Forsythia
Forsythia spp.


An introduced deciduous ornamental shrub growing to 10 ft. Many species used widely as a hedge and appreciated for their many small yellow flowers which bloom early in the spring.

TWIGS: Branches are hollow or with lamellate pith; branchlets somewhat angled.

LEAVES: Opposite, simple, rarely 3-parted; leaf blade serrate or entire. 

SEEDS: Seeds numerous in each locule, slightly winged; endosperm absent; radicle erect.
