November 5–9, 2003 | Crisis of Faith, Crisis of Love. Miroslav Volf gave a lecture (“Crisis of Faith, Crisis of Love”) and sat on two panels (“Why Can’t We All Just Get Along?: Sober Realities and Hopeful Possibilities in Public and Private Life” and “Faith, Ethics and Leadership: Are Personal Faith and Moral Beliefs a Private Matter? Dealing with Conflicting Values in One’s Workplace and Life Space”) for a program organized by the Northeastern US region of the Young Presidents’ Organization.
October 26, 2003 | Faith in the Workplace. David Miller spoke on “Faith in the Workplace” as part of a “Theological Sampler” day at Yale Divinity School, an open house event to which congregations were invited to learn about theological education and student life at YDS.
October 21, 2003 | Reconciliation in Post-Apartheid South Africa. The Center hosted a lunch discussion with Professor Piet Meiring of the University of Pretoria on “Reconciliation in Post-Apartheid South Africa: Dream or Reality? Stories from the Files of the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission.” Professor Meiring, a theologian, served on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission from 1996 to 1998; during that time he traveled across South Africa to listen to the statements of thousands of victims as well as perpetrators of apartheid, ultimately to try to further the process of reconciliation in the country.
October 10, 2003 | Integrity in Financial Reporting. David Miller participated with several other distinguished business leaders in the “Second Annual Roundtable on Integrity in Financial Reporting,” a discussion focusing on the impact of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, part of an “Ethics Focus Week” at the Hankamer School of Business of Baylor University. October 6, 2003 | Faith and Work. David Miller gave a lecture entitled “Faith and Work: Conflicting Forces or Convergent Resources?” at the Florida Center for Theological Studies.
February 6, 2004 | War, Violence, and the Bible. A paper by Miroslav Volf was read at a conference on “War, Violence and the Bible” at Denver Seminary.
