Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University – Isabella Welles Hunnewell Internship 2009 (Summer Internship) -Work alongside horticulture staff at one of the world's leading centers for the study of plants and the oldest public arboretum in North America. Spring/summer internships offer practical hands-on training in landscape horticulture combined with related classroom instruction. Interns work 40-hour weeks and receive a stipend of $9.00 per hour; housing is not provided. Trainings and field trips complete this comprehensive experience. Application deadline: February 15, 2009

General Electric Health & Safety Summer Internship with Corporate Environmental Program- We will have the same H&S full time summer internship in Fairfield as we have had for a number of years. It generally starts in May and runs through August, and we are sometimes able to extend it through the following school year as a 1-day/wk internship.  This can include some work from home. The H&S interns are integrated as part of our H&S team working on priority issues with/under the direction of a professional, and we expect them to think and challenge us with their ideas rather than just executing a plan. This gives them broad exposure to the real workings of a corporate staff team, data analysis, and direct support to strategic initiatives. (posted 2/5/09)

U.S. Department of JusticeEnvironment and Natural Resources Division Law and Policy Section Internship - Responsibilities include attending congressional hearings and reporting on environmental legislation; researching legal and policy issues; and providing support for the section's amicus litigation. Environmental Law Institute (ELI) Research Internship - Interns work directly with staff attorneys, scientists and economists on a variety of projects. Substantive areas of focus include: land use policy, public participation in environmental regulation, biodiversity, air quality, public health, hazardous waste and brownfields, wetlands and watershed policy, international environmental policy, environmental management systems, and environmental enforcement. Interns conduct library and internet research, attend and report on outside events, review and summarize scholarly material, assist with preparation for environmental training courses, conduct telephone interviews, and perform various administrative tasks. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Summer Environmental Internship - CDC invites qualified applicants to apply for a ten week summer undergraduate internship program in Environmental Public Health at the National Center for Environmental Health/Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (NCEH/ATSDR) in Atlanta, Georgia. This is a full time summer opportunity for rising juniors and rising seniors to get real-world experience in Environmental Public Health activities at the federal level. Students will participate in individual projects and will be paired with mentors to gain experience in the fascinating field of Environmental Public Health. Application deadline: February 18, 2009
