Quick Start for GovConnection

Logging In

Selecting GovConnection from the Yale ePortal at www.yale.edu/eportal will automatically bring you to the Yale University-GovConnection web site which reflects Yale institutional contract pricing available to faculty, staff and students.

First Time Visitors Login

You must have a unique login to enter the GovConnection page. From the landing page, you can create your account online.

• Create an account by clicking on the link that says “ Enroll now” under “ First time log in ONLY.” Simply fill out the form and create a unique username and password. This will enable you to have access to the appropriate website per your credentials.
• When your account has been created you will be directed back to the Yale University- GovConnection home page which is designated by the Yale shield.

Return Visitors Login

• Always return to the same welcome page and click the link that says, “Already have a username and password?” Enter your username and password on the LEFT side of the login screen. Click Login and you will enter the Yale University-GovConnection home page. 

  NOTE: If you create an account on the RIGHT side of this page, you will create a consumer account and will not be eligible for University pricing and free freight!  

Searching and Shopping :

GovConnection offers over 100,000 products. The majority of these are available for you to purchase. Links on the right side of the main shopping page will help you to quickly find Yale University product recommendations, frequently purchased products and software licenses.

There are also several other ways to search for a product: 

1) Select a category of products from the header tab pull-down menu

2) Browse Category section of the website

• Search for a specific known product by using the part number look-up box on the left side of screen.

Once you have refined your search to a manageable number of products, you can use the COMPARE button at the top of the page to provide a side-by-side comparison of the products you selected:

• Click on the Add to Cart button directly under the product you wish to purchase. This will add your item to your cart.

Shopping for Academically-Priced Software:

GovConnection displays a list of the Most Popular Yale software and media on the right side of the Yale University- GovConnection home page.

Use the white "Search Box" on the left side of the home page to search for Academic Boxed Software and Licensing.

Helpful hint:   Type in “acad” before the name of the product for which you are looking. (Ex. “acad office”)

Place Order

• There are 4 steps to the check out process:

  • Cart 1: Select products. Be sure to check quantities and prices.
  • Cart 2:  Enter billing information – supply PO (if available) or Yale Purchasing Card information or personal credit card when applicable.
  • Cart 3: Enter shipping information – supply address or choose from existing list
  • Cart 4:   Verify the order and click Submit Order.

  NOTE: All first time purchases on the Yale-GovConnection Institutional page will show tax as being charged. Tax WILL NOT be charged on these purchases.

Order Confirmation

You will receive an email confirmation once the order is received as well as a shipment confirmation.

Purchasing without a Yale Purchasing Card/Sending Quotes to an Approved Buyer

If you do not have a Yale Purchasing Card or you need to forward your cart to someone who will buy on your behalf, contact Mark Wichelins at GovConnection at 800-800-6912. He will modify your setup to include an approver name so that your carts are forwarded to this approved buyer.
